Marion-Crawford Prevention Programs has been in existence for over 20 years with support from the Crawford-Marion Board of Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health (ADAMH) Services. Since 1994, the Crawford-Marion ADAMH Board has established a firm commitment to prevention, and provided office space for two prevention specialists (1 per county). The agency has served under the umbrella of a variety of local community organizations. Several federal and state grants allowed for program expansion and the number of prevention staff members grew to four. With the increase in staffing, this allowed for an increase in programs and services provided in the two county area. The ADAMH Board provided support and guidance for Marion-Crawford Prevention Programs to become an established 501(c)(3), and a State Certified Prevention Agency in 2010.
For most of the agency's existence, Marion-Crawford Prevention Programs was housed within the Crawford-Marion ADAMH Board offices. To further expand services, the ADAMH Board committed to funding additional space for Marion-Crawford Prevention Programs. In 2016, the agency purchased and renovated their current offices which are located at 151 Campbell Street in Marion. The building provides offices for staff and space for community meetings and trainings. Currently housing six staff, prevention services continue to grow and expand for the Marion and Crawford communities.
